Window displays and visual merchandising is a sure-fire way to boost your sales and increase brand awareness. Visual displays grab peoples’ attention and boosts message retention to a whooping 42%. With over 65% of people identifying as visual learners, it’s easy to see why window displays can be so effective.

In a multi-channel landscape, successful businesses require digital and offline marketing. To ensure brand cohesion, however, it’s vital that your offline and online marketing materials complement each other. By working with design and print professionals, you can benefit from increased conversions, higher sales figures and, ultimately, increased turnover.

If you want to boost your success, take a look at these innovative ideas for window displays and visual merchandise…

1. Guide Shoppers

Bricks and mortar businesses are looking for original ways to entice shoppers through their doors. It’s a well-known fact that the layout of your store has a major impact on consumer behaviour. However, don’t just focus on where things are when you’re designing your store environment. By using visual merchandise, you can guide shoppers through a brand experience, rather than a standard shopping trip.

Wall graphics and mounting are an excellent way to do this. Mounted visual merchandise allows you to play with the space that’s available and create custom areas within your store. Furthermore, the temporary nature of mounted displays ensures you can retain flexibility and update the appearance and layout of your store on a regular basis.

Guiding shoppers through a bricks and mortar store inevitably increases their consumption. When you can do so whilst boosting their brand experience and enjoyment, you can increase your revenue whilst building customer loyalty too.

2. Showcase Products

How you present your stock has a significant impact on overall sales, particularly if you’re selling luxury or aspirational products. While some businesses use the Pyramid Principle or the Rule of Three to create eye-catching displays, these can be enhanced with top quality visuals.

From point of sale displays and tabletop displays to large format printing; there are solutions to suit all businesses and store sizes. As well as successfully increasing sales, using point of purchase visual merchandising can actually help you to reduce your costs too.

If you sell products which typically require interaction with a salesperson to secure a purchase, your staffing costs may be above average. With informative, original and interactive visual displays, however, you can reduce your reliance on human capital. Instead, customers can access the information they need via your visual displays. By enabling your target audience to move further along the sales funnel before staff interaction is needed, your overall budget can be reduced, while your sales actually increase.

3. Add Suspense

When you can create a buzz around a new product launch or a new store opening, you’re generating interest before customers can even engage with your brand. As well as increasing brand awareness, large scale displays and encapsulation add to the suspense of a new launch. Using bespoke graphics and imagery, as well as digital countdowns, you can turn your new launch into a brand event.

In addition to this, encapsulation can be a savvy way to enhance store security. If you’re launching a new store or undergoing a refurb, for example, you may want to keep your front of house under wraps. By using custom encapsulation, you maintain brand presence whilst ensuring your store is kept away from prying eyes until it’s ready to be unveiled.

4. Increase Customer Base

The right window displays will entice shoppers straight into your store from the street. Indeed, the best window displays grab attention, even when the shopper isn’t familiar with your brand. A unique opportunity to display both your brand and products to passing trade, creating an effective window display should be a top priority for any business with a bricks and mortar presence.

Of course, an ineffective or poorly planned window display can have the opposite effect too. A customer may travel to your store with the intention of making a purchase, only to turn around when they see your outlet.

The visual impact your business makes is a decisive factor for potential customers. If you want to retain your existing clientele and attract new customers, it’s vital that your window displays convey your brand message effectively. Furthermore, you’ll want to ensure your displays reflect the quality and care that goes into your products and customer service too.

Where does the time go?! Only one year ago we opened our doors in our new studio in SE1! IPW1 not only made a colourful start in SE1 but we ensured we made our new house a home. As well as needing more room we wanted to make sure our commitment and investment to innovation and digital printing technology was reflected in our brand. We'd refreshed the brand, we'd invested in innovation and we had the Xerox Iridesse Express! So how did we do?

For anyone that’s moved house after a number of years, you know how daunting this can be. As Kirstie Allsopp and Phil Spencer tell us, it’s about Location, Location, Location and once you’ve found your ideal property you then need to maximise the Amazing Space and come up with Grand Designs without input & guidance from George Clarke and Kevin McCloud!! Yet we’ve done it!! We were bursting at the seams at our previous London printing studio in Great Portland Street [GPS] W1 as, in response to customer demand, we’d continued to invest to ensure we kept pace with the advancements in Xerox digital printing technology as far as the space would allow us. The advancements since we took our very first Xerox Iridesse in 2018, the first in Europe, have been out of this world. With its speciality colour printing of gold, silver, white, clear and fluorescent pink, we loved it and so did our customers. So much so we soon found ourselves with Xerox number 2. Again we loved it, and so did our customers, new and old. We were able to translate creative designs and requests like never before and in 2022, knowing we needed add to our Xerox Iridesse fleet yet again, it was clear. We had outgrown our Great Portland Street home.
